So, just how did this famous rum get its name? It's actually quite simple. The island natives of St. Croix are known as 'Cruzan' and, although nearly all speak English, they also enjoy a slightly altered language of the same name. Because Cruzan is a name that identifies both the natives and their own language, it became the obvious choice for naming a rum that was manufactured and exported from the island.

Since the 1700s, the island of St. Croix has found a way to make use of its natural resources in the manufacturing of Cruzan Rum from refined sugarcane. During a tour of the Cruzan Rum Distillery, guests will notice remnants from years past. The fact that many original findings still remain further proves that this beverage is rich in both taste and in history. As the tour progresses, you will be shown various techniques used to create the rum as well as the devices and storage containers used in the process.
As the tour concludes, you will be invited to taste a sample of Cruzan Rum. While the beverage is plentiful on St. Croix, the majority of Cruzan Rum is exported from the island. Currently, there are a number of rum varieties available, including Light, Dark, Diamond, Tropical-flavor, etc.
As a popular tourist area, St. Croix has no shortage on places to visit and activities to enjoy. Both locals and tourists readily enjoy sipping their favorite beverage while relaxing at the beach or dining at any one of the fine eateries located throughout the island.
