Welcome to St. Croix!
Why You'll Want to Visit... and Why You'll Never Want to Leave
If your future-plans include a vacation to the United States Virgin Islands (USVI), but you're unsure of which island to make your main destination, might we suggest St. Croix? Originally named Santa Cruz by Christopher Columbus back in 1493, this island has come a long way since then. While some would call it a work in progress, St. Croix truly offers the best of each of its brother islands, St. John and St. Thomas.
Twice the size of St. Thomas, but with nearly the same population size, there's room enough on this island for everyone to play. Sure, it can get busy when the cruise ships dock at Frederiksted, but it's still possible to not bump into one another while hanging out on the beach and you'll seldom, if ever, have to wait in long checkout lines in the numerous duty-free shops. If it's nightlife you're after, without all of the crowds, St. Croix will also keep you mingling far into the evening compared to the low-key environment of St. John and you won't be overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of St. Thomas. If you get the urge to travel from the mainland though, St. John and St. Thomas are just a short ferry ride or airplane trip away.
On St. Croix, you'll find the greatest array of golfing opportunities within the USVI, spectacular scuba diving and snorkeling along the likes of the undersea trails of the Buck Island National Monument, enjoyable (as well as informative) tours of Christiansted -- the capital, Frederiksted, and points in between, and intoxicating tours of botanical gardens and rum factories. The Divi Carina Bay Casino is also the only one of its kind in the entire USVI.
Suffice it to say, St. Croix packs a lot of punch for its deceivingly small size. Think Aruba, with half the population. Think tropical paradise, without mass merchandising. Think hide-away, with mobile wireless network access covering the entire island. How's that for the best of both worlds?
St. Croix is for Everyone... Anytime, Anyplace, Any Budget
Are you a college student gearing up for Spring Break? Looking for a reprieve from the monotony of classes and exams and a place to kick back and down a few cold ones while dancing to some reggae? Are you planning your once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon? Looking for the peace and quiet of a romantic resort without the need to venture far for a candlelight dinner? Or are you a family traveling with young children... kids that need to be entertained with more than just a daily trip to the beach? St. Croix is truly capable of catering to every age group and activity level.
Lodging options also abound. Choose from all-inclusive resorts, high-end hotels, homey bed and breakfasts, and suit-yourself villas and condominiums. Price ranges are as varied as the accommodations and amenities offered. With names like The Buccaneer, Gentle Winds Condominiums, and the Pink Fancy Hotel, how can you possibly go wrong?
Typically busy during the winter months, plan your vacation well in advance. Better yet, visit after mid-April and use the money you save to stay even longer. The weather is just as nice, the crowds are less, and there are numerous annual island events that occur during the off-season. Regardless of when you visit, you don't have to have a small fortune to truly enjoy St. Croix….just a desire to have the vacation of a lifetime. And we're placing a bet at the Divi Carina Bay Casino that you will.
